NDIS News: What Federal Budget 2025 Means for Care & Support?

The Federal Budget 2025 is finally here—and for those of us in the care sector, there’s a lot to feel hopeful about.
From increased investments in the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to long-overdue wage boosts in aged care, this budget signals a more stable, supportive future for both participants and care workers.
At Abled Care and Nursing Services, we’ve always believed that real care is built on trust, respect, and support that meets people where they are. And this year’s budget? It’s a step in the right direction.
What’s New for the NDIA?
Let’s start with the big one for NDIS participants.
The Federal Government is investing in a stronger, more accountable NDIA, with funding that will bring more of its workforce in-house. So, what does that actually mean?
What this means for participants:
Less outsourcing = more consistency.
Stronger oversight = better support quality.
More direct communication = less confusion.
On top of that, $175.4 million has been allocated to strengthen fraud detection—helping protect participant funding and ensuring that services go where they’re actually needed.
For many NDIS participants, this shift is more than just operational. It’s peace of mind.
Because when the system works better behind the scenes, your day-to-day support feels smoother, more stable, and more trustworthy.
Aged Care Gets the Recognition It Deserves
If you or your loved one receives aged care support, this section is for you.
The 2025 budget includes:
$88.3 million to support the recent decision by the Fair Work Commission to increase aged care wages
$292 million over five years to continue implementing the Royal Commission’s aged care reforms
Why this matters:
Higher wages mean that aged care workers feel valued—and when care workers are supported, they can offer more consistent, person-centred care.
And with reforms focused on dignity, access, and safety, older Australians can expect care that’s not just compliant but compassionate.

Other Noteworthy Budget Highlights
While disability and aged care are the focus for us, here are a few other areas getting a funding boost:
Renters & Social Housing
$1.9 billion to increase housing supply
$1 billion to improve infrastructure
Medicare & Mental Health
$227 million for urgent care clinics
Increased support for digital mental health platforms
Apprentices & Vocational Training
Continued fee-free TAFE
Apprentice support payments extended
Youth Allowance & Austudy
Indexation and modest payment increases
Â
All these measures point to one thing: a broader focus on support, accessibility, and inclusion. And that’s something we can all get behind.
